Devil's Bridge
Egg
The Devil’s Bridge spans the Sihl and connects the Etzel Pass with Einsiedeln and is therefore a part of the Way of St James.
The bridge was constructed so that the stones used to build the new monastery could be transported from the Etzel quarry to Einsiedeln. In the middle of the bridge is a statue of the patron saint of the bridge, Johannes von Nepomuk (1794). The Devil’s Bridge was an important part of the old pilgrimage route. The birthplace of the famous physician Paracelsus (1493) is located nearby.
