Geissel
Schwyz variation of the whip
Carnival in Schwyz would not be the same without the customary whips (geissel). They are made by hand, a craft that requires a great deal of experience and sure instinct.
The long whips are made of Swiss pine, a hemp sling, leather, badger hair and lead-in line. The length of the whip may vary from 1.5 to 4.5 metres, depending on the size and skill of its user.
