The first stage of the Route 1291 leads from Lucerne railway station via Weggis to Brunnen. From there it goes by boat to Flüelen and continues by bike to Altdorf.
The Route 1291 starts at Lucerne railway station and takes you past the city's most important landmarks, the Water Tower and the Chapel Bridge. After circling the Lucerne lake basin, the route continues to Küssnacht am Rigi, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Lake Lucerne via Weggis to the boat landing stage in Brunnen. From here you can take the boat to the lower end of Lake Lucerne, to Flüelen. From Flüelen it is a short ride to Altdorf, the first stage destination.

Directions
The first stage of Route 1291 leads from Lucerne railway station via Küssnacht am Rigi, Weggis, Vitznau and Gersau to Brunnen. From there it is by boat to Flüelen and continues by bike to Altdorf.

On this route, pay attention to the signposting on site. On some sections of the route, fast e-bikes (45s with yellow number) are sometimes prohibited. Here you will find the traffic signals and their meaning.

When passing through farms, we thank you on behalf of the farmers for passing through at an adapted, reduced speed.

Safety information
Please note that from 11 July 2023 the road between Brunnen and Sisikon on the Axenstrasse will be a closed for bicycles, e-bikes and motorbikes.  As a substitute measure, a free bicycle shuttle service will be offered.

Author’s advice
Don't forget the selfie in front of Lucerne's water tower and the Chapel Bridge. And the Hohle Gasse in Küssnacht is also worth a visit.
